Holidays in Faliraki

Greece Main Guide | Rhodes Main Guide

Faliraki is the most developed of the resorts on Rhodes Island. It is close to the capital, Rhodes Town, and has good, if busy, beaches. Watersports are popular, along with boat trips to other parts of the island.

The climate is hot and dry in the summer and mild in winter. There is very little rain in the summer; Rhodes is the sunniest of the Greek islands. The nightlife is good, and the resort is popular with younger holidaymakers seeking a party vacation.

Faliraki is just 15 minutes' drive from the airport, making transfers quick and hassle-free.

Accommodation and Food

As a major resort, Faliraki has no shortage of accommodation. Apartments, studios and a range of hotels are available to suit all budgets. Many hotels and complexes have their own swimming pool and other extras such as sports facilities.

You can find a range of cuisine on offer, from traditional Greek to Mexican, Chinese and seafood. The resort is very cosmopolitan, so it is not hard to find whatever suits your taste.

Activities

Many people come to Faliraki to enjoy the beaches and spend their nights in the clubs. The resort is well set up for this kind of activity, but if you're looking for something more varied you won't be disappointed.

Faliraki has a good range of watersports available including wind surfing, yachting, wakeboarding and water skiing. Banana boat trips out to the caves of Traganou beach and the neighbouring bays are popular. There is also a scuba diving centre if you want to explore the underwater world close up.

On land, you can find excitement in the form of bungee jumping and go-karting, or for something a little more relaxing there are riding schools nearby. If you get too hot there is a large water park.

If you want to get about, car and bike rental is easy enough in Rhodes Town. The climate inland is cooler and the scenery is beautiful. There are numerous remains of the ancient Greeks, Romans and other civilisations that have made their mark on the island over the centuries.

Just up the road in Rhodes Town, a wealth of cultural and historical attractions await discovery. Discover ancient and modern Greek culture in the historical and art museums, or visit the ancient walls and gates of the city. There is also a delightful park and the remains of an ancient theatre and athletic stadium where the Greeks held athletic contests in honour of the gods.

The Aquarium of Rhodes is also worth a visit. It has a large population of Mediterranean sea life including corals, anemones, lobsters, turtles and octopi. There is also a museum of oceanography and sea life at the Aquarium.

The night life in Faliraki and neighbouring Rhodes Town is impressive and varied. There are nice bars where you can sip a cool drink with friends, as well as hot dance clubs and karaoke bars. Some karaoke events have very good prizes.
